Welcome! This official-style quickstart gives clear, security-first steps to set up your Trezor hardware wallet and get you safely started with self-custody.
First things first — check the packaging for tamper evidence and verify seals. If anything looks suspicious, stop and contact the vendor or Trezor support.
trezor.io/startOpen a modern browser and go to the official setup page at trezor.io/start. This page will guide you through installing Trezor Bridge (or using the web-based flow), firmware checks, and the official Trezor Suite app.
Follow the onscreen prompts to install any required software (Trezor Bridge or Trezor Suite). After connecting your device, the official site will check firmware integrity and prompt you to update if necessary. Only install firmware when prompted by the official site.
When the device prompts, choose Create new. The device will generate a secure recovery (seed) phrase — write it down exactly as shown, in the correct order.
Create a PIN directly on the device. The PIN protects access to the device—even if someone has physical possession, they cannot use it without the PIN.
trezor.io.If the device doesn't respond, try a different USB cable or port. For firmware errors or suspected tampering, contact official Trezor support and do not continue using the device until resolved.
Keep your purchase receipt and serial number handy for support requests.
Trezor works with the official Trezor Suite and many third-party wallets and platforms. When connecting to marketplaces or exchanges (e.g., OpenSea, Coin spaces), always verify the origin and check the URL before approving transactions on your device.
If you need an extra security layer, enable a passphrase. This creates a hidden wallet accessible only with the correct passphrase + seed. Use it carefully — if you forget the passphrase, funds become irrecoverable.
